How to Add an HTML Widget to the Sidebar of Your WordPress Blog

  • This tutorial will guide you through how to take a provided HTML embed code for a widget and apply it to show up on your own WordPress widget area.

    Step 1

Log on to the WordPress Admin and select “Widgets” under the “Appearances” tab on the left side of the dashboard.

    Step 2

From here simply click and drag the “Text” widget over to the widget area you would like the widget to show up at.

    Step 3

Now the “Text” widget should open up for you and you can simply copy / paste the HTML embed code that was provided for you. You can also add a “Title” to the widget if you like.

    Step 4

Click on the “Save” button on the bottom right of the widget box and you are finished!

    Step 5

Now go ahead and take a look at a page on your site with the widget area and you will now see the widget you have just added.
